MaskProxy Glossary of Terms


This glossary is used to quickly understand common product, billing, connection, and troubleshooting vocabulary used in MaskProxy tutorials.

Product Type

Term Meaning
rotating residential proxy - GB Residential proxy billed by GB traffic, egress IP can be rotated, suitable for batch tasks that require residential network characteristics.
rotating datacenter proxy - GB A datacenter proxy that charges by GB of traffic, focusing on speed, bandwidth and cost control.
static residential proxy - IP Fixed-duration ISP residential IP, suitable for maintaining the same egress identity for a long time.
static datacenter proxy - IP Fixed-duration datacenter IP, suitable for network monitoring, interface testing and long-term automation tasks.

Connection Protocol

Term Meaning
HTTP Protocol Common proxy connection protocol, suitable for web browsing, interface requests and most application scenarios.
SOCKS5 protocol A more general proxy connection protocol with a wide range of compatibility. It is a connection protocol, not a proxy product sold separately.

Account and parameters

Term Meaning
Host proxy server address, for example: gw.maskproxy.net.
Port proxy connection port, different products or configurations may be different.
Username Account name used for proxy authentication.
Password The password used for proxy authentication should be kept properly.
proxy string Connection information that combines host, port, username, and password into one line.

Common status

Term Meaning
Connection timeout The client did not connect to the proxy or target site within the limited time.
Authentication failed May occur when the username, password, port or package status is incorrect.
Exit IP The proxy IP address seen by the target website.
Concurrency The number of requests initiated at the same time. Excessive concurrency may lead to timeout or increased failure rate.
